The 2017 NFL Draft is scheduled for the 27th to the 29th April in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This will be the 82nd time the NFL franchises have met to freely select new players for the upcoming season.
This will be the first time the NFL Draft has taken place in Philadelphia for 56 years and to add to the drama, player selections will be announced from a theatre constructed especially for the event on the famous Rocky Steps.
To become eligible for the NFL Draft, players must have left school three years prior to the draft. This is the most common way teams recruit new players for the upcoming season and the last place team of the previous season, has the honour of having first pick in the draft. This serves as way to make things competitive in every season.
However, a team does not have to select a player if they are positioned first in the draft. Instead, they can choose to trade their position with another team, a player, players or a combination of the two.
So, having finished bottom of the pile last season, Cleveland Browns have the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
1. The First Pick of 2017 NFL Draft
The Cleveland Browns are widely expected to select Myles Garrett with their first pick and the odds of 1.06 with Ladbrokes for Garrett to be the first player picked in the draft reflect this opinion. The Browns are building a group of talented young football players and Garrett is one of the best prospects for many years.
The only reason Cleveland will not opt for Garrett as a first pick is if they decide to trade for New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garappolo. However, this seems very unlikely at this stage.

2. Marshon Lattimore - First DB to be Drafted?
With the San Francisco 49ers, likely to follow the Browns by selecting a defensive line in the shape of Solomon Thomas, who is 10.00 with Ladbrokes to be the first DL drafted, the next pick falls to the Chicago Bears.
The Bears are building a strong defence and Marshon Lattimore would be an excellent addition to their secondary line. Having signed a free agent quarterback in Mike Glennon, the Bears have the freedom to strengthen elsewhere and Lattimore is priced at 2.10 with Ladbrokes to be the first DB drafted this year.
3. Other Picks
The Buffalo Bills have 10th pick in the first round and will be looking at several players at quarterback, secondary and receiver. However, they are expected to make a move for tight end O.J. Howard, who is the favourite to be drafted first in this position at 1.10 with Ladbrokes.
As the first-round draft drifts around to the 12th pick, Cleveland Browns should make a move for Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback. He grew up as a fan of the Browns and they are unlikely to let him slip through their fingers. Trubisky is 1.28 to be the first quarterback drafted.
Finally, and perhaps presenting the best value bet in the 2017 NFL Draft is John Ross. The Baltimore Ravens, who have 16th pick in the first round need a wide receiver and although they may be tempted to go for Mike Williams 1.66 there is every chance they will plump for Ross, who scored 19 touchdowns last season. John Ross is available at 8.00 to be with first wide receiver drafted in 2017.
