The 2018/19 Bundesliga season will start on Friday 24th August with a potentially great game between Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim.

It will be the 56th season of the Bundesliga, the top football league in Germany and many of the stars will feel they have a point to prove having seen the nation fail at the 2018 World Cup. The defending champions are Bayern Munich, who will be aiming to clinch their 29th league title and their seventh in succession.

This will be the first season of the German top flight since the end of World War I not to feature Hamburg, who were relegated last season.

Video Assistant Referee technology will be used in the 2018/19 Bundesliga and may be welcomed more openly following the World Cup.

Considering their dominance in recent years, it comes with little surprise to see Bayern Munich sitting top of the 2018/19 Bundesliga betting odds.

As highlighted above, Bayern Munich have finished top of the pile in Germany for the last six seasons and show no sign of slowing down. Niko Kovac will take charge of Bayern Munich in the 2018/19 season, having defeated the club with Eintracht Frankfurt in the cup final last season. However, it’s a big leap up for Kovac and having seen Carlo Ancelotti dismissed in no uncertain terms after a poor start last season, the Croatian knows he must make a good start.

Serge Gnabry and Renato Sanches will be available to the new manager and Leon Goretzka has joined the club to strengthen the midfield. Despite these and possible other new additions, the bulk of the playing personnel in the starting XI is expected to be similar to last season, the main difference will be the tactics employed by Kovac.

He is expected to employ a 3-1-4-2 formation, with David Alaba and Joshua Kimmich pushed into wide midfield positions and Arturo Vidal operating in-front of the defence.

In truth, Kovac could play any number of players in the squad and the Bundesliga betting odds will remain the same. Anyone making a 2018/19 Bundesliga prediction would be foolish to discount Bayern Munich and they are the 1.16 favourites with Bet365 to win the Bundesliga title.

2. Other Contenders for 2018/2019

Borussia Dortmund proved very entertaining for the neutral last season and they started superbly only to suffer a dreadful run of form which saw the manager sacked. Peter Stoger replaced Peter Bosz and the addition of Michy Batshuayi added the goals required for a top four place..

Lucien Favre will be the manager of Borussia Dortmund this season and he has performed very well during his time at Borussia Monchengladbach. They have played exciting football but also defended well and a good balance will be key to Borussia Dortmund’s success. With Marco Reus, Christian Pulisic, Jadon Sancho, Maximillian Philipp and new signing Marius Wolf, Borussia Dortmund have a dangerous looking team.

The one thing which appears to be missing is a quality striker, who will score 20 goals. Finding a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was always going to be tough and that could be the difference between a title push and a place in the top four.

Recent history suggests if there is one team capable of dethroning Bayern Munich, it’s Borussia Dortmund and they are available at 9.00 with William Hill to win the 2018/19 Bundesliga title.

3. Worth Betting On

Other than Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, it is difficult to pick one team who could emerge as a genuine challenger for the Bundesliga title.

When looking at the Bundesliga winner odds, no one really stands out from the group below Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Perhaps the best equipped are RB Leipzig, who finished runners-up in the 2017/18 Bundesliga and played Champions League football last season.

The Bundesliga newcomers found life tough last season, finishing in sixth place to qualify for the Europa League. The loss of Naby Keita will hurt but has long been on the cards and RB Leipzig have added Nordi Mukiele, Matheus Cunha and Marcelo Sarachi to their ranks ahead of the new campaign. If they can keep Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner, they will have an outside chance of troubling Bayern Munich at the top.

RB Leipzig are available at 34.00 with Bet365 to win the 2018/19 Bundesliga and Schalke, who finished second last season, are on offer at 51.00..
