Joshua vs Breazeale Betting Tips

by JohnnyBet from

On the 25th June, 2016, Anthony Joshua will make his first title defence, as he takes on Dominic Breazeale for the IBF Heavyweight title. The fight will take place at the O2 Arena, London and Joshua will be confident of the victory.

1. Joshua's First Title Defence

It was only four years ago, when Joshua shot to fame by winning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, in the super heavyweight division. It wasn’t long after, that Joshua made his professional debut and he made light work of his opponent, finishing the fight in the first round. Since that fight, Joshua has fought 14 times and only one man, has taken him beyond the first round and that was Dillian Whyte.

Following the win against Whyte, Joshua met Charles Martin in the right, for the IBF Heavyweight title and despatched him in the second round. There was talk of a meeting with Tyson Fury and David Haye but Joshua’s first defence will be against another unbeaten boxer, in the way of Dominic Breazeale.

The American has won all of his 17 bouts to date, with 15 coming by the way of knockout. Joshua is confident of winning the fight and it’s easy to see why. Breazeale also took part in the 2012 Olympic Games, only to fall at the preliminary stage of the tournament. That’s not to say Breazeale will be a push over, a lot has happened since London and the American has shown he has what it takes to knock a man out.

2. Joshua vs Breazeale Prediction

However, Joshua received a little lesson in his previous fight, allowing himself to go in to the fight with a slack defence and surely the same won’t happen this time around. It’s the first defence of his title and Joshua will be fully focused, on all aspects of the fight. Joshua is a man who is capable of knocking out any heavyweight boxer, rarely wasting punches and Breazeale is no exception.

Joshua is 1/33 (1.03) to win the fight with bet365, so we need to look at other markets to find any value. To win in rounds 1 to 3, Joshua is available at 1/3 (1.33), so it’s time to look at a specific round. Breazeale may be undefeated but he has struggled against fighters below the calibre of Joshua.

Expect Joshua to finish this fight early and eight of his previous 16 opponents have been stopped in the second round. The second round is obviously a favourite for the IBF champion and Joshua is 11/4 (3.75) to knock out Breazeale during that round on the 25th June.
