Barcelona vs Juventus
Champions League Quarter-final, Game 2
Today, 20:45 (CET)
Camp Nou, Barcelona
With the first leg of this UEFA Champions League quarter-final complete, Barcelona and Juventus meet at the Camp Nou for the second leg.
Given their strong home record, both domestically and in Europe, Juventus were always going to be difficult to beat in Turin. However, having suffered an embarrassing night in the Parc des Princes against Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16, surely there was no way Barcelona were going to deliver a similar performance?
It became apparent, after just 10 minutes at the Juventus Stadium, it was going to be another European night to forget for Barcelona. Paulo Dybala opened the scoring for Juventus with only 7 minutes on the clock, having been given the freedom of the Barcelona penalty area.
Then, 15 minutes later, the same player struck again, sweeping home a cut back from the impressive Mario Mandzukic to double Juventus’ lead. In truth, Juventus could have added further goals before Giorgio Chiellini added the hosts third goal, with a strong header at the far post.
The Barcelona defence struggled to cope with Juventus’ attacking play all night and only Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi offered anything in the attacking third. Luis Enrique’s team have a mountain to climb, if they are to make the Champions League semi-final this season.
1. Bookies Choice - Odds
Despite being completely outclassed in Turin, Barcelona come into the second leg as heavy favourites to win the game. Barcelona are undefeated in their previous 17 home games in all competitions, winning the last six. The Catalan giants can be backed at 1.50 with Bet365 to win on the night.
Juventus were excellent in the first leg but even though they dominated that match, the bookies still believe they will lose at the Camp Nou. You must go back to the 2013 to find the last time Barcelona lost at home in the Champions League and at 6.50, Bet365 believe Juventus have little chance of changing that record.
The draw is also available at Bet365, priced at 5.00.
2. Barcelona vs Juventus Betting Tips
The way Barcelona approached the first leg, you would think they are confident of overturning any deficit at the Camp Nou and why not? The stunning performance in the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, a game they won 6-1, was breath-taking to watch. If Barcelona are to do the same in this tie, they will need to win the game 4-0 and you can get 21.00 with Bet365 for the match to finish with that score line.
If you believe Barcelona can still qualify, despite being outclassed in the first leg, but do not want to predict a result you can get 6.00 with Bet365 for Barcelona to win the tie.
Perhaps a better bet would be for Barcelona to win the match and both teams to score, which is on offer at 2.75 with Bet365. Barcelona will have to pour forward to score at least three goals and this will leave them open at the back. Enrique’s team are already suspect in defence and this should give Juventus plenty of opportunity to score a crucial away goal.
Barcelona will welcome back Sergio Busquets to the team, who missed the first leg through suspension and other than any mishaps on the weekend, will have no new injury problems. Juventus have the bulk of their first team squad available and will likely field the same starting XI from the first leg for this game.
