The Champions League 2017/18 will kick off on Tuesday, September 12, and in amongst the big-hitting fixtures is this intriguing encounter from Scotland.
Celtic aren’t regarded as one of European football’s heavyweights, but they are capable of producing an excellent display or two in front of their passionate home fans. Their Hampden Park home is the perfect venue for high-octane nights like this.
PSG are no strangers to punters, and their exploits in recent times have been capped by the signings of Neymar for a world record fee and the hugely talented Kylian Mbappe this summer. Be under no illusions, the Parisians are going to be a force to be reckoned with in this competition.
So it’s an intriguing battle to start proceedings in this year’s Champions League, and both spectators and punter alike will be keeping a close eye on this one.

1. The Bookies Choice
So what are the Celtic vs PSG Predictions? The bookmakers are in no doubt as to who will win this game. PSG are as short as 1.33 to take the honors.
But that does a disservice to Celtic, and there will be a few punters interested in their lofty price of 12.00. The draw can be backed at 6.00.
2. Where the Money Is
We’ve given Celtic the big build up, but they have delivered the good quite a few times in the Champions League before. Remember their 3-3 draw with Manchester City last season, or the 2-1 victory over Ajax in 2013? In their last meetings with Barcelona on home soil they have lost 0-1 and 0-2, so the point we are trying to make is that it would be foolish to write off the Hoops.
The concern for their supporters is that they haven’t enjoyed the best start to the 2017/18 campaign. They were embarrassed 3-4 by Astana in the Champions League qualifier – that was a dead rubber, but still doesn’t excuse the fact – and last time out they drew 1-1 with St Johnstone. Not ideal preparation for a game against a side as good as PSG.
Total Goals Over/Under 2.5 Goals - Best odds
The French outfit have started as they mean to go on, winning all four of their Ligue 1 games and scoring 14 into the bargain – conceding just two. Their form is good, and a front three of Neymar, Mbappe and Edison Cavani is as good as any on the planet.
But here’s the other thing: look at PSG’s record away from home in the Champions League. In their last 20 games on the road in this competition, their run reads W9 D4 L7 – this is a team that is far from invincible.
So how can punters make the most of this information? We’re going to say that Celtic will outperform their expectations, PSG might underwhelm if their away form is anything to go by, but we’re just favouring the French side slightly.
Put all that together and the Celtic +1.25 Asian handicap at 2.45 looks like a fantastic value.
About those 20 PSG away games we mentioned….14 witnessed three or more goals. So, Over 2.5 Goals is a smart play at 1.55.
PSG will have designs on winning this season’s Champions League, while Celtic would love nothing more than to qualify for the second phase of the tournament. Almost all the odds implicate only one winner but no one really knows who will who will triumph in the upcoming game.
