Man United vs Anderlecht
UEFA Europa League Quarter-final, Game 2
Today, 21:05 (CET)
With the final of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League in sight, this match means so much to both Manchester United and Anderlecht as the teams attempt to reach Stockholm.
The first leg of this tie ended in a 1-1 draw at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock, meaning there is all to play for in the second leg at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho will be the happier manager, having scored a vital away goal in Belgium but the Portuguese knows his team could have put the tie to bed, if they had taken their chances.
However, having missed some great opportunities to extend their lead, Manchester United allowed Anderlecht back into the game and Rene Weiler’s team netted a late equaliser to keep things interesting.
Manchester United were much the better team throughout the 90 minutes and deserved to win the game, there is little doubt about that. It was not the first time the Red Devils have been in control of a game but failed to win it and this is something which is clearly irritating Mourinho. Can Manchester United get the job done at Old Trafford or will Anderlecht cause a massive shock by eliminating the favourites?
1. Manchester United v Anderlecht Odds
Manchester United have lost only one of their last eighteen matches in all competitions. In addition, Mourinho’s men have not tasted defeat at Old Trafford in their previous twenty-eight games, which is a tremendous record and shows just what Anderlecht are up against in the second leg.
Therefore, it is not surprising to see Manchester United installed as favourites to win the match at 1.25 with Bet365. Anderlecht have been in good form themselves but this will be their toughest test this season and they out at 15.00 with Bet365 to win the game.
Although Manchester United have been difficult to beat at home, they have drawn many times and Bet365 offer 6.50 for this match to end level.
2. Man United vs Anderlecht Other Bets
There is only one result which will see this match go to extra time and that’s a repeat of the 1-1 draw from the first leg. Given Manchester United have drawn three of their last four home games, this result cannot be ruled out and you can get 9/1 for the match to end 1-1 after 90 minutes.
However, Manchester United have been strong defensively at home in the Europa League this season. The Red Devils have conceded just one goal in five home games and all they need to do is keep another clean sheet to guarantee progress to the semi-final. Bet365 offer 10/11 for Manchester United to win without conceding a goal.
We could be in for another tight game at Old Trafford, with Manchester United’s first thought being to keep a clean sheet. Therefore, even if Manchester United are to win the game, it could be by a narrow margin, much like their previous home Europa League game against Rostov. Manchester United to win the match by a single goal is 11/4 at Bet365.
Manchester United should be able to welcome back Ashley Young and Wayne Rooney for this game. David de Gea should also be available but Mourinho may stick with Sergio Romero in goal. Anderlecht will be hoping striker Lukasz Teodorczyk will be fit to start the match, having been forced to come off the bench in the first leg.
